Thailand Gets The World’s Longest Tunnel Aquarium

Located in Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand, the Chiang Mai Zoo’s aquarium, set on a 1.6 hectares plot of land, is made up of freshwater and ocean sections. Spanning a length of 133 meters across a width of 66.5 meters, the aquarium, being built by the Zoological Park Organization (ZPO), features the world’s longest tunnel aquarium which houses about 8,000 aquatic animals of 250 different species.
However, soon after its inauguration on October 27, it had to be temporarily closed due to malfunctions of both its water purification systems and ticket machines.
Expected to reopen in a couple of weeks, it should make for a rather fascinating visit.
