Man Arrested For Shoplifting … A Shark
In what may be the fishiest case of shoplifting ever, a Long Island man stole a shark worth $350 from a pet store’s tank by putting it under his coat and sneaking away. Thankfully, the shark survived. Weird, what must that guy have been thinking?
The shoplifter, Elbert Starks, then took the foot-long baby nurse shark home in his car, without putting it in water, and placed it in his expensive, 250-gallon aquarium. That’s not all, he later used a stolen credit card at another pet store to buy a moray eel (worth $300), which he put in the tank with the shark.
Incidentally both the shark and the eel were doing pretty well when the cops rescued them. Apparently, Elbert happens to be a sea life lover, and this was his way of indulging in his hobby.
