Can I Put Guppies In My Fish Tank With A Male Betta?
Highly unadvisable.
Yes, there have been instances, that a male Betta or Siamese fighting fish (or fighter), has managed to live in harmony with guppies in the same tank, but that is more the exception than the norm.
The chances that the betta will nibble at the guppies is very high – partly because the betta can mistake the guppies to be specimens of its own kind, and hence try and fight them, as two male bettas in the same tank are prone to do.
If you still want to try keeping bettas and guppies together, you would be well advised to get a very large tank. Part of the reason that bettas fight with each other is that they are highly territorial fish, and hence if they have enough space to themselves, they may decide not to fight – a remote possibility though.
